The Yacht:
Southern Comfort is a 1965 forty-four foot Hatteras
Sport-Fish completely refurbished and re-powered. The boat has been
re-powered with two Cummins 450 hp diesel engines, which allows the boat to
cruise at a cool 24 knots and tops out at 30 knots. Hatteras
yachts are considered to be the finest sport-fish ever built. They were the
first fiberglass yachts built, and were very thick. Southern Comfort has
won awards (Ocean Reef Club’s best Vintage Sport-fish), recognizing its stunning
condition, and impeccable build. This Yacht is annually inspected by
the U.S. Coast Guard to meet and exceed USCG regulations and is licensed
for six passengers. Southern comfort has a deep-v hull design and a wide
fourteen foot beam, which allows for a smoother and safer ride. Hatteras yachts were manufactured with a 2” thick hull
capable of enduring even the roughest of seas. It has 2 cabins with 2
berths in each. Each cabin has its own closest, sink and private entrance.
Each cabin is air conditioned as well, and also has its own closet and drawers
for clothing. The interior of this yacht is solid Philippine Mahogany and
Teak, adding a great visual richness to one’s fishing experience.

established Southern Comfort as a 1st class fishing/cruising
sport-fish with intent to combine comfort with sport fishing at a
reasonable price. USCG Capt. Steve has fished throughout the Bahamas; East,
South, West Florida regions catching tarpon, snapper, sailfish, tuna, wahoo, cobia, snook, and red
fish.
